Privacy


The University is committed to protecting the privacy of personal information that we hold. 

In pursuit of the core functions of research, teaching and learning, and community engagement, the University accumulates the personal information of employees, students and other individuals.

What is personal information?

The defines personal information as 'information or an opinion, including information or an opinion forming part of a database, whether true or not, and whether recorded in a material form or not, about an individual whose identity is apparent, or can be reasonably ascertained, from the information or opinion. 

Our principal obligations as to how we manage personal information arise under the Information Privacy Act 2009 (Qld) and the Right to Information Act 2009 (Qld). In certain circumstances, other privacy and data protection laws may apply to personal information we hold. If you have any questions about the University's privacy practices you can contact rti-privacy@unisq.edu.au. 

If you believe the University or one of its employees has breached your privacy when handling your personal information, you are entitled to make a privacy complaint. If you wish to make a privacy complaint, or discuss concerns you may have about how your personal information has been handled, you can do this by emailing rti-privacy@unisq.edu.au.
