Agriculture and Environment - Cleaning our Rivers: Recycling and repurposing pollution
Students will be engaged in a creative design activity for a solution of the problem of pollution in our rivers and streams. They will test their own device in a small kids pool and will then work together using the best parts of all the designs.
Agriculture and Environment - Plant DNA detectives
Extract DNA from plants and discover how DNA fingerprinting is used as a tool in the fields of forensics, plant breeding and conservation.
Agriculture and Environment - Unleashing the wonders of animal and wildlife science
Australia’s wildlife ranges from tiny planigales up to large kangaroos. Work together to work out who is who in the zoo and see what it’s like to study wildlife at uni!
Business -Executive for a Day - solving wicked business problems
This presentation will highlight the role of business in solving the world’s toughest challenges – and how you can be a part of it all with Ãâ·ÑɫƬ.
Creative Arts - Storytelling through Zine making and collage
Through this workshop, students will be able to tell their stories through the construction of zines and collages.
Criminology: Under the Influence of Goggles
This session introduces students to the discipline of criminology and the wide variety of career options available with a criminology degree. Students will also have the opportunity to engage in an interactive activity using our drug and alcohol impairment goggles.

Engineers for the Future World
Join us for an engaging engineering session! Material Testing: Get introduced to design engineering and test materials used in manufacturing. Work in small groups to observe and calculate material properties. Drones & Robots: Experience mechatronics engineering by operating drones and robots in small groups after a brief introduction. Advanced Research: Discover cutting-edge research in space, defense, and materials engineering at Ãâ·ÑɫƬ. Learn about engineering careers and programs offered at Ãâ·ÑɫƬ.
Geographic Information Systems - Monitoring and mapping natural disasters by satellite remote sensing and GIS
Since satellite data started to explain the global environmental conditions in the 1970s, a revolutionary change has occurred in natural resource management and disaster monitoring. This session will teach the basics of satellite remote sensing, GIS (Geographic Information Systems), and how to map disaster-affected areas on Google Earth using two case studies. Students will engage in hands-on exercises to create a map about recent devastating floods in QLD/NSW using MODIS satellite data in the Google Earth environment.
Health and Medical Science - Heart lab: Pulse Pursuit
Join us for an exciting journey into the world of cardiovascular health! Our Heart Lab session offers hands-on experiences and interactive learning about the heart and circulatory system. Activities include AR immersion and 3D models, electrocardiogram (ECG), doppler ultrasound and point of care testing. Discover how your heart works and learn practical tips for maintaining heart health. Whether you're a student or just curious about the human body, this session is designed to enlighten and inspire. This 90 minute session will give you a hands-on look at Nursing using the latest clinical simulation technology led by experienced registered nurses.
Occupational Therapy
Find out about the allied health discipline Occupational Therapy (OT) at Ãâ·ÑɫƬ. You will be able to work in small groups to build on your understanding of the role of an OT.
Physics - Plasma Globes - exploring application of Physics!
Plasma is the most common state of matter in the universe and was the first state of matter to exist after of the big bang. We don’t find plasma on the earth’s surface naturally. We might be familiar with plasma globes as an interesting toy to observe, but we can learn a lot of about different concepts of Physics with a few simple activities. This activity will involve learning about plasma and related physics concepts through interactive use with plasma globes. While plasma globes are awesome to have and look at, they teach us a lot about what plasma is and the world around us.
Physiotherapy - Restoring Function Through Physiotherapy
This session will give you hands on experience doing physiotherapy-related activities when rehabilitating a person with injured in a motor vehicle incident.
Professional Communcation: PR and Advertising
Ãâ·ÑɫƬ’s Professional Communication and Advertising major covers key areas of both public relations and advertising practice to provide a solid professional foundation for graduates working in the contemporary industry. Most organisations, whether private enterprise, government, non-government, or charities, require communication professionals working across a range of projects. In this session we will introduce some of the areas we cover, including promotion and publicity, branding, reputation management and crisis communication, community consultation and events. Participants will have the chance to apply themselves to a realistic communications task that draws public relations and advertising together to promote a popular music festival, highlighting many aspects of these exciting roles.
Storytelling with Photography
Students will be given an interactive 30-minute workshop on storytelling with photography. Topics include compositional techniques and using motion blur to create dynamic images on their mobile phones. The group will then proceed on a guided photo walk using their mobile phones to shoot a simple photo essay around the Japanese Garden.
Survey and Conquer!
Students become surveyors for a day! Using real surveying instruments, they will set out precise points to form a mystery shape, then connect them with string to reveal their masterpiece on the ground. Will it be a fish? A car? A giant taco? Only precision and teamwork will tell!

Image theatre is a precursor to Augusto Boals Theatre of the Oppressed - Forum Theatre. This workshop is designed to take theatre makers/actors through the methodology of constructing and transforming images of oppression to images of liberation using games and exercises.

Rocket Science 101!
Delve into the mechanics of rocket propulsion using the dynamic example of water rockets. Participants will discover the science behind pressurising water within a bottle to generate thrust, experiencing firsthand the principles that propel rockets into the sky. Throughout the course, students will gain insight into the intricate processes involved in launching a rocket, from conception to touchdown. Engage in hands-on activities where you'll build and launch your very own water rocket to predict and control its trajectory. This program is suitable for anyone interested in Space Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Simulation and Engineering.
