Department of Education Grants
The Department of Education’s Semester 1 2025 (RPE grant) and the (BTR grant) will soon be available via the respective Smart Jobs websites. You can sign up to receive an email when the grants open or click on the links above for further information about current grants that are still open for applications in 2024.
These grants provide an opportunity for eligible preservice teachers to complete a (minimum consecutive) 15-day professional experience placement that is at least (each way) from their current residence to a Queensland state school that has a transfer rating of TR2-TR3 (RPE grant) or a transfer rating of TR4-TR7 (BTR grant) and is located within a priority region.
Grant recipients will receive a one-off grant (between $2250-$3400 for the RPE grant and $3375-$5000 for the BTR grant) to assist with organising placement-related travel expenses.

Department of Education: Teach Queensland Prac Placement Grant
The new announced in September 2024, supports preservice teachers to complete their teaching qualification, by providing them with a $5000 grant to assist with expense associated with completing their final professional experience placement in any Queensland state school.
Preservice teachers undertaking their final professional experience placement (minimum of 15 consecutive school days) in Semester 2 2024, or into 2025 or 2026, will be eligible to apply when completing their final placement in a Queensland state school.

The Teacher Enhancement Centre (TECe)
The Teacher Enhancement Centre (TECe) , based at Kelvin Grove State College, is an online and face to face personalised mentoring and transition program for pre-service teachers, interested in experiencing a placement or future employment in Queensland in rural, regional, remote located state schools.

International Placements
You can choose to organise your own international placement. Any individually sourced placement proposals should be discussed with the Work Integrated Learning Team prior to the submission of the Professional Experience Placement Application form (Form A) (PDF 381KB).
The number of international professional experience placements is limited due to accreditation requirements. Applications for any school placement overseas will be considered on its merit and suitability to fulfil relevant course requirements.
