  • This major will cover topics across mechanical, electronic and computer engineering principles. Guided by our renowned academics, you will delve into the fundamental principles of motion, and the foundations of building mechatronic systems.

Professional accreditation

When you graduate with your Associate Degree, you’ll be eligible for full accreditation with . Apply for membership after you graduate to become an Engineering Associate and with the experience you will gain from working in the field, you can apply for chartered status as an Engineering Associate.

Pre-requisites

To study this degree we assume you have sound knowledge in:

  • English (Units 3 & 4, C), and
  • General Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C)

We assume that your knowledge is equivalent to a grade C or higher in Units 3 and 4 at high school level (typically studied in Year 12). Find out more about assumed knowledge.

It is also recommended that you have studied Mathematical Methods (Units 3 & 4, C), or equivalent.

Recognition of prior learning or work experience

Residential schools

This degree has a mandatory attendance requirement for some of the residential school courses. All students will have the opportunity to come on-campus for residential schools, where you will attend face-to-face lectures and tutorials to gain practical experience, use facilities and specialist equipment, and meet staff and other students.

Professional experience / placements 

You’ll need to undertake at least 30 days of suitable work experience during this degree. This experience may be in an engineering office, laboratory, work site, or factory where you would be working principally with professional engineers, engineering technologists or engineering associates to gain insight into professional practice.
